Statement
of the International Scientific Conference
"Fundamental and Applied Problems of Mechanics
(FAPM-2017)"
In October 24-27, 2017 Bauman Moscow State Technical University held the International Conference "Fundamental and Applied Problems of Mechanics" dedicated to the 170th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian scientist Nikolay Egorovich Zhukovsky.
The main purpose of this conference was to show the results of some recent research into various areas of mechanics conducted in Russian and foreign scientific and educational institutions. Due to N.E. Zhukovsky's anniversary the special emphasis was made on the research resulted from his scientific and educational methods and conducted in modern conditions. A significant place was given to scientific and methodological issues of teaching mechanics, discussing historical issues related to the activities of well-known scientists and mechanics.
More than 150 reports were heard at the conference. A big number of participants from Russia and other countries took part in it. The conference was supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (grant No. 17-08-20550).
The working languages of the conference were Russian and English. Previously the theses of all the reports were published. As for the full texts, some of them will be published in the Journal of Physics: Conference Series.
In general, the scientists showed their great potential in studying various problems in numerous fields of science and technology, as well as applying new approaches, which develop and improve methods of mechanics.
In order to obtain new fundamental knowledge, to raise the level of education in the field of mechanics, to develop and strengthen international scientific ties, to ensure full-fledged financing and implementation of innovations it was decided:
1. to draw attention to high scientific level of the reports, which reflect the current topical issues of research in mechanics and related sciences; recommend that the conference "Fundamental and Applied Problems of Mechanics" should be held at Bauman University regularly, namely every two years;
2. to ask organizers of the conference to prepare applications to the International Funds, as well as to the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation in order to receive financial support for the conference "Fundamental and Applied Problems of Mechanics" dedicated to the 175th anniversary of N.E. Zhukovsky;
3. when planning further conferences, to invite the world's leading scientists to deliver plenary reports on topical contemporary problems in the field of mechanics; to develop international relations between Russian and foreign scientists in the field of theoretical mechanics, aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, celestial mechanics and other areas of mechanics;
4. to ask organizers of the conference to have the full texts of the recommended reports in English published in a separate issue in the Journal of Physics: Conference Series, as well as to post the reports on the conference website;
5. to support the decisions of the 11th Congress on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in Kazan, the Meetings of the Heads of the Departments of Theoretical Mechanics, Robotics and Mechatronics of the Russian Federation in Makhachkala, the Scientific and Methodological Council for Theoretical Mechanics, aimed at supporting teaching of theoretical mechanics in higher educational institutions as a fundamental discipline.
